Abstract

I sometimes wonder if it wouldn’t be better if parents had the ability to know what their student's grades and academic status were without having to prove their student was a dependent. These two items of a student's education records are considered by The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act to be non‐directory information. The obvious solution, as I’ve mentioned several times before, is that the student could give written consent or digital permission for the parents to see all that information online.
