Abstract

The relationship between anomalously high yield stress and structural features of metallic glass-nanocrystal composites, a new class of composite materials, is examined theoretically. It is shown, in particular, that the presence of disclination defects in nanocrystallites—elements of a composite—increases the yield stress of this glass-nanocrystal composite.
