Abstract
This paper proposes a discharging scheme of a number of paralleled energy storage devices (ESDs) within smart grid or microgrid environment. With proposed control algorithm discharging process of standalone batteries with different level of initial charge, without mutual communication, becomes synchronous. During discharging phase when droop control is utilized, difference in state-of-charge (SoC) of different paralleled ESDs will occur, thus some ESDs will stop operation earlier than expected. Proposed method allows discharging time of the ESDs to become equal despite the difference in SoC, active power supplied by ESDs is regulated according to the locally measured information, thus omitting the any need for communication between ESDs. Feasibility and effectiveness of proposed method is verified by the simulation.
