Abstract
The current study describes the results of the evaluation of the entire population of a mental handicap hospital using the Disability Assessment Schedule (DAS) with a view to identify the weaknesses, strengths, needs and comparing their correlation with demographic variables. The different populations in this study illustrate the changes in admission policies to mental handicap hospitals over the last decades, and the future need for facilities for psychiatrically unwell, behaviorally difficult, and multiply handicapped people in the community.
