Abstract

The present paper summarizes far beyond 100 investigations of the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) utilizing quantum mechanical methods, establishing a link between atomic structure and the XANES data. The paper enables the researcher to gain an overview on what has already been tried or solved already in fields similar to his own XANES subject and, making use of the references, to realize the current possibilities and limitations of interpreting XANES spectra numerically. The directory also makes it easy to find studies of similar compounds consisting of neighbouring elements in the periodic system, thereby enhancing considerably the accessible experience of previous studies. Deadline for papers to be included in this survey was August 1992.
