Abstract

An experimental method for the determination of the angular correlation attenuation factors, due to finite solid angle, for Ge(Li) detectors is offered. The method is tested by comparing the measured factors for a 3″ × 3″ NaI(T1) detector with available calculated attenuation factors. Results for two coaxial Ge(Li) detectors with active volumes of 20 and 30 cm 3 are presented as a function of distance and energy of the γ-rays. These correction factors were further tested by comparison of the results of measurements of an angular correlation from a 207Bi source, with previously reported results.
