Abstract

The optimization of gas engine combustion technology over the last 15 years has resulted in a astonishing reduction of fuel consumption. In the context of a project of the WTZ Roslau gGmbH the effects of a direct water injection were examined for the characteristic values and the operational behaviour of a single-cylinder research engine. Thereby characteristics of the 13.6-l SI gas engine for combined heat and power plants were from special interest such as NOx emission, efficiency, knocking behaviour and break mean effective pressure.
