Abstract

Well-crystallized BCN compounds have been prepared from melamine (C 3 H 6 N 6 ) and boron oxidation (B 2 O 3 ) at pressures above 25 GPa and temperatures higher than 2500 K. The morphology of synthetic BCN samples was characterized transmission electron microscope. The atomic B/C/N ratio was determined by Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS). EELS studies indicated that the bonding of the BCN compound is in a sp 3 configuration. The results indicated BCN compound may be a cubic structure.
