Abstract
The CROSS (Cosmic Rays Over Spectrum Steepening) experiment is aimed at direct measurements of masses and energies of primary cosmic ray (PCR) nuclei in the range of 1013 − 1015 eV near the break in the PCR energy spectrum. The experimental equipment includes a balloon ionization spectrometer consisting of X-ray transition radiation generators interlaid with thin-wall proportional chambers.
