Abstract

A new practical approach to the calculation of two-electron self-energy corrections is presented for the energy of helium-like ions. The working formulas are derived within the modified adiabatic formalism. The direct renormalization procedure is used in terms of multiple commutator expansions. It is shown that the final expression does not contain ultraviolet and infrared divergences. This expression is used then to obtain numerical estimates for two-electron self-energy corrections in wide range of the nuclear charge Z.
