Abstract

Experiments were conducted using reversed phase chromatography with horizontal development. It was shown by varying spot size and type of fatty acid that the marginal distribution throughout the thickness of the paper of the molecules to be counted renders no bias to their quantitative evaluation. The said marginal distribution, however, influences the scanning error and it can be recommended to scan low energy labelled paper chromatograms from both sides of the paper and average the results.
