Abstract

In the present study, Y3Al5O12 (YAG) hollow microspheres were successfully prepared through cathode plasma electrolytic deposition (CPED). Unlike the traditional methods, CPED directly uses the energy of plasma and liquid surface tension to prepare hollow microspheres without the need for high-temperature calcination or a precursor template. The obtained YAG hollow microspheres had a complete shell structure and single-phase composition. The formation mechanism of YAG hollow microspheres proved that CPED is a simple and efficient method to prepare oxide hollow microspheres.
