Abstract
A model for predicting the surface tension of molten alkali halides is described. A relationship exists between the surface tension (), at the melting point (Tm), molar volume (V) and inter-nuclear distance (D) where all the parameters are known constants. The formula results in surface tension values that are in good agreement with the experimental data within a difference of less than 10% for most of the salts under study.
