Abstract

In renewable energy power generation, integration of renewable energy with the grid is mainly done using voltage source converters (VSCs). Successful synchronization, as well as power flow control, plays an essential role while integrating renewable energy with the grid. This paper proposes a voltage modulated direct power control scheme for voltage source inverters connected to the grid, where fluctuation of voltage as well as frequency is present on large scale. Synchronization with the help of PLL may affect the system stability if it is used along with the vector current control (VCC) Scheme. Associated with the VCC method, the proposed scheme eliminates the use of PLL. BPF (bandpass filter) is used in place of PLL for synchronization with the grid. The proposed Scheme is simulated in MATLAB and the results of the simulation show that the proposed scheme is superior to the vector current control schemes.
