Abstract

We report a micro-photoluminescence study of exciton localization due to weak disorder in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wires. The optical measurements were performed through small holes fabricated in an Al-film deposited on the surface of the sample. Probing regions of the samples below a few square microns enables to resolve the inhomogeneously broadened line into a series of sharp peaks, which correspond to recombination of one-dimensional excitons trapped in local potential minima.
