Abstract

AC side current harmonics in an HVDC system are shown to be dependent on the commutation overlap and the DC side ripple. Interharmonics exist when the AC networks operate at different frequencies. An analytical method is proposed to represent such effects in the AC side harmonic calculation. The algorithm does not require iteration between the AC and DC sides. The result obtained using the analytical method is verified using time domain simulation.
