Abstract

The birefringences of quartz at 3.39μ and 3.50μ were made by experimental determination of the correct thickness of the half-wave plate for each wavelength. The results were found to be appreciably smaller than the values given by Sǒlc and the International Critical Tables, and to agree, by interpolation, with the values obtained by means of channelled spectra up to 2.6μ.
