Abstract

A new experimental method is proposed to determine directly the average electric field gradient prevailing at the site of a nucleus including the Sternheimer effect, and the static electric quadrupole moment of an excited state of a nucleus. The method would be useful for better understanding of the internal electric fields in solids.
