Abstract

We present the first experiment performed with a photoemission spectrometer displaying the image of the valence-band structure on a fluorescent screen in real time. The smooth image obtained after a 50-s integration time has been processed to improve the contrast and shows the valence band of GaSe as continuous lines. A three-dimensional character is apparent which is found to correspond to the contribution of the rhombohedral γ type of stacking in this layered compound.
