Abstract

A new approach to modulation transfer function (MTF) determination, based on moiré deflectometry, is presented and demonstrated. The diffraction-limited MTF and the geometric aberrations of an optical system are simultaneously derived, referring to the reduction of the fringe contrast and the fringe shift, respectively. The method permits scanning of the MTF over the entire spectrum of spatial frequencies by applying a single pair of gratings.
