Abstract

This paper investigates the application of atmospheric thermal plasma for decomposition of anesthesia gas. With the multi-gas inductively coupled plasma (ICP) source, atmospheric plasma by anesthesia gas, which consists of N <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sub> O, O <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sub> and buffer air, can be directly generated. Not only pyrolysis but radicals, excited species or ultraviolet radiation will be contributed to the reactions so higher decomposition efficiency will be expected. Experimental results of decomposition rate, energy efficiency and by-products are reported.
