Abstract

Direct current Collinear dipole-dipole traversing was done across the Singhbhum shear zone near Ghatshila-Mosabani towards the north eastern side of the Singhbhum craton to map the shear zone from electrical conductivity point of view. Apparent resistivity profile data for n = I to 10 and dipole separation 500 meters are interpreted at three institutions independently. The common and major features of these models are accepted with a certain confidence keeping the conceptual geological model of this geologically well studied area in mind. Finite difference forward modelling and ridge regression, very fast simulated annealing inversion are done. The important results are as follows. Resistivity data could see the Singhbhum shear zone upto 2 Kms from the surface, Singhbhum shear zone is about 1 to 1.5 Km wide below Mosabani. Highly resistive Singhbhum group of formations are reflected in all the models. Based on geological apriori information, Iron ore group of rocks south of the shear zone, soda granities could be delineated from the models.
