Abstract
The absolute intensity of the main plasma ion and the relative intensities of the various ionic species (both positive and negative) present in a DCI plasma vary with the emitter temperature. This phenomenon is shown to be due to the dependence of the depth of penetration of the primary electrons into the reactant gas, which in turn is a function of the gas temperature.
