Abstract

In part A of this paper, direct boundary integral formulation of steady state ground water flow equations in multilayer aquifer systems were discussed. The solution was reduced to a boundary only form, if desired, using the SR-BEM. In this part, this formulation is extended to unsteady problems in multilayered aquifer systems. In this approach unsteady flow equations in aquitards are solved analytically including the aquitard storage. These analytical solutions are then coupled with numerical algorithms for main aquifers yielding procedures for time dependent simulation of multilayer aquifer systems. Numerical examples are then included to demonstrate the characteristics of the proposed numerical solution.
