Abstract

The longitudinal dipole vibrations ofp-shell nuclei are classified by their supermultiplet and unitary quantum numbers, and their excitation energy evaluated using a two-body interaction acting in the various relative states of motion of the nucleons. The first resonance was found to be highest for 4n nuclei and a few MeV lower for intermediary nuclei, varying in a regular way.
