Abstract

Diplomatic immunities have been a comparatively frequently litigated topic of public international law before Austrian courts, given that Austria hosts a high number of diplomatic missions. This contribution aims to give a comprehensive overview of the most pertinent issues of diplomatic immunities in the jurisprudence of Austrian courts. In particular it examines the application of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR) and, where relevant, references to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (VCCR) and as well as cases involving international organizations.
