Abstract
This course is designed for doctors training in the medical specialties. It provides the knowledge and skills of the palliative care approach for patients with incurable medical conditions, enabling doctors to give better control of symptoms, support, and end of life care. The needs of patients with advanced non-malignant disease are covered particularly well. Palliative care has been identified in national service frameworks for some chronic medical conditions and is specifically mentioned in the curriculums of some specialty training programmes; this course would enable a doctor in training to demonstrate adequate training in this important area.
