Abstract
Laser diode pumped solid state lasers are efficient, compact, long lived, all solid state lasersources of coherent radiation. Potential applicatiosn of them include micromachining, coherent radar, medical uses, miniature visible sources for digital optical strage and various kind of sensors. The researchpoints of diode laser pumped solid state lasers are to find new solid state materials for higherefficiency, to obtain higher energy and peak power, to construct a laser with microchip size and toget green or blue and mid infrared radiation.The present status and future trend of the development are described.
