Abstract

The infrared spectrum of the ν 8 band of natural CH 2FCl has been recorded at a resolution of about 0.002 cm −1 in the range 1201-1270 cm −1 using a tunable diode laser spectrometer. This vibration of symmetry species A″ gives rise to a c-type band. The rovibrational analysis in the P, Q, and R branches led to the assignment of 1932 and 542 transitions belonging to the 35Cl and 37Cl isotopomers, respectively. From a simultaneous fit of GSCD of this work and the ν 3 band, together with the literature microwave data, an improved set of ground state constants up to the quartic terms has been obtained using Watson′s A-reduction Hamiltonian in the I r representation. A least-squares fit of the identified transitions provided excited state parameters of the ν 8 band for both isotopic varieties with a standard deviation of about 6 × 10 −4 cm −1.
