Abstract

New pyrazole-derived ligands, 3,5-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazole (HL), 2-(6-methyl) pyridyl-2-pyridyl-3,5-pyrazole (HL 1) and 3,5-bis-2-(6-methyl)pyridyl-3,5-pyrazole (HL 2), are reported. Complexes of formulae [ML(NO 3)]· xH 2O (M = Co II, Ni II, Zn II and Cd II), [ML(NCS)]·H 2O (M = Co II, Ni II, Zn II and Cd II), [ML 1(NO 3)]·H 2O (M = Ni II and Co II), [M 2L 2(NO 3) 2(OH)]·H 2O (M = Ni II and Co II), [M 2L 1Cl 2(OH)] (M = Co II and Ni II) were synthesized and characterized by IR and UV-vis spectroscopies and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Dinuclear compounds containing a di-μ-pyrazole bridge are found in nitrate and thiocyanate complexes with the first two ligands, while mixed μ-hydroxo, μ-pyrazole-bridged structures are found in chloride complexes with the second ligand and nitrate complexes with the last ligand.
