Abstract

A model assuming that equilibrium reaction of formation of non-compressible dimers dominates in and governs the acoustic properties of liquid mixtures of alcohols in inert hydrocarbon solvents was developed. It was found to describe satisfactorily the observed compressibility dependences on composition of the title systems, in particular those containing long-chained components. This attempt allows to estimate the dimerization equilibrium constants from the compressibility data.
