Abstract

The first Keggin phosphododecaniobate-based dimer with the formula [Cu(en)2(H2O)2][H2{PNb14O42(en)2 [Cu(en)2H2O]2[Cu(en)2]}2{Cu(en)2}]·27H2O (1) (en = ethanediamine) has been obtained under the “two-pot” strategy. The single crystalline material were collected and futher used for characterization with different analytical techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). 1 crystallized in P-1 space group with unit-cell parameters of a = 13.6605 Å, b = 14.4712 Å, c = 27.7058 Å, α = 99.8900, β = 99.5070, γ = 104.6960 and a unit-cell volume of 5092.3 Å3. To the best of knowledge, cluster 1 is the second example of dimeric Keggin-type heteropolyoxoniobate. However, bonding of en to niobium atoms of the polyanion framework has been firstly observed in polyoxometalate chemistry.
