Abstract

Dimeric 9‐(Difluorophosphino)anthracene: Synthesis, Properties, and Structure9‐(Difluorophosphino)anthracene (1) is readily accessible by the reaction of 9‐lithioanthracene with chlorodifluorophosphine. The compound forms a platinum(II) complex 2 and dimerizes photochemically to give 3 for which, as the first difluorophosphine, an X‐ray crystal structure determination is performed. Dimer 3 constitutes one of six possible rotational isomers. A rotation of the PF2 group is impeded by strong F‐H interactions at temperatures up to at least 105°C. The geometry of the difluorophosphine is comparable to that of trifluorophosphine.
