Abstract
In the present paper, the correlation between the lattice parameter in fullerites C60 and the volume discontinuity during the phase transition sc→fcc was studied. The dependence has a complicated nature, and we have developed a simple combinatorical model for a quantative description. It follows from the model that the dimers (C60)2 also play a significant role in the orientational phase transition. The kinetical study of the phase transition also corroborates this model.
