Introduction

Cardiomyopathy is any disease involving primarily and predominantly the heart muscle. Acquired myocardial disease or cardiomyopathy is the most important cause of heart failure in cats [1]. Dilated cardiomyopathy is a disease of ventricular muscle characterized by systolic myocardial failure and an enlarged overloaded heart that leads to signs of congestive heart failure or low cardiac output [5].
