Abstract

In this article, concentrating on the “Love is...” digital storytelling workshop, I focus on the workshop process and three digital stories produced in the workshop. I analyze how digital storytelling puts into practice the possibility of constructing alternative woman/man counter publics, together with the probability of eroding such categories, against one totalizing woman/man public as well. Within this context, first I draw a conceptual/theoretical frame ranging from private/public division to counter/multiple publics. Later, I concentrate on digital storytelling and examine the production process of digital stories through putting the workshop steps, which I consider put forth the counter-public potentiality, in focus. In the third section, focusing on the “Love is...” workshop, I analyze the three digital stories within the framework of content and thematic aspects. Finally, I present the deductions about the potential of digital storytelling for creating counter publics, focusing on “Love is...” workshop.
