Abstract

A digitally-controlled oscillator (DCO) with multi-phase differential outputs is presented. The DCO uses ten stages differential delay cell so as to have 20 output phases. The DCO's frequency tuning range covers 1GHz and 1.2GHz among different process corners. The DCO is designed and verified by 65nm CMOS technology. The simulated phase noise of the DCO is −96.25dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from 1.2GHz center frequency. The power consumption is 7.4mW at 1.2GHz with 20 phases. The area is 120µm×90µm.
