Abstract

AbstractDigital simulation has been used to model the current response of an enzyme‐partially coated solid electrode. Enzymatic activities were detected using cyclic voltammetry by monitoring the release with time of a redox label split from a substrate contained in the solution. The predicted calibration curve indicated that, depending on the value of the catalytic rate constant, the different trends observed were controlled either by pure diffusion, by pure catalysis, or by a combination thereof. A procedure to attain the pertinent kinetic and diffusion properties affecting this system is given.
