Abstract

Timely use of epinephrine is the well-recognized treatment of choice in anaphylaxis. Paper-based anaphylaxis action plans are commonly used to guide patients and caregivers on when and how to use epinephrine. However, epinephrine administration by lay people remains low. Most common reasons for this have been described as fear of making a mistake, incorrect assessment of symptoms, and poor knowledge of the correct epinephrine autoinjector use. Data is lacking on the role of mobile health (mHealth) apps in digitalizing anaphylaxis emergency action plans and bridging the gaps in care.
