Abstract

As production systems become more complex and digitalized, the quality and quantity of skills required of production system consultants are increasing. On the other hand, the training of consultants is mainly conducted through work instruction manuals and on-the-job training (OJT), which makes it challenging to develop consultants to a level that meets the requirements and requires a large number of person-hours. The authors have already proposed a framework to support the unskilled consultants by applying the "Digital Triplet," a next-generation manufacturing concept that combines the know-how and knowledge of skilled consultants and Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS) to production system consulting. Based on this framework, This paper clarifies the current OJT issues using the PD3 process modeling language for Digital Triplet through energy-saving improvement consulting services as a case study. Furthermore, we show that it would be beneficial to apply the framework for supporting the training of unskilled consultants using the Digital Triplet concept to OJT.
