Abstract

Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum of Dnipro focuses on the history of the steppe Dnieper region and is one of the oldest Ukrainian museum institutions founded in 1849. The restriction of activities in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 quarantine contributed to the intensification of online museum activities. The museum staff adapted the museum events to the new digital format in a timely and high-quality manner. The following event were successfully conducted: “Online lectures”, “Museum Night”, “Children’s Day in the museum”, etc. The author states that the Online Museum project has significantly influenced the traditional formats of museum activities, including fundraising, exhibitions, outreach activities, etc. Thus, in view of digitalization, there is a need to study the transformation of museum activities in general and Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum of Dnipro in particular. Following the NHMD case, the author concludes about the need for creating new educational content for children, actualizing the role of exhibits, spreading public opinion about the option of outside museum projects, finding a balance between what the museum gives and what the museum does to implement the financial plan.
