Digital subscriber line technology facilitates a graceful transition from copper to fiber

Abstract

The loop environment and the techniques that historically have been used for providing transmission treatment are reviewed. The digital subscriber line (DSL), which applies adaptive filtering to yield significant performance and administrative advantages, is introduced.
