Abstract

The Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) in Hong Kong, China has developed accredited procedures for the calibration of various medical testing equipment based on digital sampling technique. Digital sampling systems can characterize and measure medical signals which have specific waveforms. SI-units traceable calibration is essential to ensure the accuracy of medical equipment. In this paper, calibration systems developed for defibrillator analyzers and electrocardiograph (ECG) simulators are presented. The systems can measure arbitrary waveforms including biphasic defibrillation signal and ECG normal sinus signal which are high energy pulses and weak non-sinusoidal signals respectively. Details of the measurement setups and measurement uncertainties are presented.
