Abstract

In this paper, a digital predistortion technique to linearize frequency multiplier for dual-band wireless LAN transmitter is presented. The frequency multiplier is used to generate 5.8GHz wireless LAN signal by multiplying 2.9GHz input, however, it distorts the input OFDM signal severely. This paper has analyzed the nonlinear distortion of the frequency multiplier by modeling it as a memoryless Volterra system, and proposed a simple digital predistortion algorithm to get the proper 5GHz band wireless LAN signal. The linearized frequency doubler shows 20.1 dB and 19dB ACPR improvement, respectively at 11MHz and 20MHz offset from center frequency by using the proposed predistortion linearization.
