Abstract

Digital controller for a power converter with non-linear variable switching frequency is presented in this paper. Regression analysis is used to obtain approximated function of the non-linear variable switching needed to yield output voltage ripple in DCM that is close to the CCM output voltage ripple. The need to sense and sample the peak inductor current and the input voltage is avoided in the presented digital controller. The approximated function has the load current as an input and the nonlinear switching frequency as its output and it is used by the digital controller to set the switching frequency during DCM operation of the power converter.
