Abstract

This paper presents the preparation of the Digital Methodology for Parental Self-Assessment of Child Development. We used the existing scales for evaluating the child's learning opportunities through play based on data taken from the database of Pumpelina Speech Therapy Clinics from 2010 to 2022. Using 5,737 cases of children aged 0 to 7 years, we summarized the parents' referrals for consultation, assessments made for the level of development of the children, and length of delay between the date of the consultation and the time of starting speech therapy. The questions in the methodology were prepared after analysing the referrals of parents in the periods before and after the Covid 19 pandemic. The results of the pilot application of the platform show that parents use the platform for self-assessment of the developmental level of their children and more confidently refer to therapy and counselling, possibly due to the fact that they see a real result from entering their own responses regarding the development of the child. We conclude that the use of digital platforms for self-assessment does have an impact on parents' understanding of the need for further activities in helping children in their cognitive, social and emotional development.
