Abstract

The course of human development has taken new dimension with the introduction of information and communication technology (ICT). The vision of digital India is the development in the field of including electronics services, products, manufacturing and job oriented schemes etc. For India, the rise of Information and Communication Technology is an opportunity to overcome historical disabilities and to become the master of one's own national destiny. The Digital India programme has been launched with an aim of transformingthe country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The Digital India would ensure that Government services are available to citizens electronically. E-banking is the most pioneering trend among the customers in the present era of thrust for moreexpeditious and secured financial services. The transfer from the traditional banking to e-banking has been an elevating amendment in banking dealings. Enlarged competition, the advancement of information & communication technology, and transmuting business environment etc. are the consequential concerns that have coerced banking services to transmute. India - traditionally cash based economy - recently announced the biggest, and most ambitious move to crack down black money and move towards digitization and cashless economy. This paper focuses on the reality about the readiness of rural population towards the adaptation of digital banking system.
