Abstract

Prescriptions for the reform of teacher education often call for increased integration of technology into the preservice teachers’ university experiences. Yet these efforts often are detached from the K–12 classroom and are not content specific. The Digital History Technology Infusion Project (TIP) was modeled on the Curry School of Educations classroom-based TIP program. TIP has been cited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) as a model for “aligning technology practices in the schools and the university.” Digital History TIP expanded this unique project by creating a social studies course based on digital history. This paper builds on the recommendations made by Dawson and Nonis (2000) and reported findings of a research study regarding social studies preservice teachers collaborating with inservice teachers to design, develop, and implement a digital history Web-based lesson.
