Abstract

According to the Food & Drug Administration (2022a), “the broad scope of digital health includes categories such as mobile health, health information technology, wearable devices, telehealth and telemedicine, and personalized medicine.” In this chapter, we provided state-of-art reviews of digital health technologies and innovations, including endpoints, devices, sensors, wearables, digital therapeutics, mobile apps, and remote monitoring of patients, as well as best practices by study types with digital endpoints. In Section 7.1, we present the methods for analysing endpoints in a bring your own device methodology framework; in Section 7.2, we examine methods and applications for sensors and wearables; in Section 7.3, we review cutting-edge methods using digital therapeutics and apps; finally, in Section 7.4, we elaborate on remote patient monitoring prior to giving a few final remarks.
