Abstract

Filtering plays a vital role in the signal processing technology. Digital filters are the basis of any wireless system that can be used in many applications viz. Medical equipments, electronics and many other cellular devices. The basic purpose of using filter is to reduce the amount of noise present in the information. FIR filters are more preferred over the IIR filter because of its stability, linear phase characteristics. In order to meet the desired precise frequency specifications, higher order filter is necessary. Any frequency responses can be realized digitally by using digital FIR filters by using appropriate FIR filter structure. This paper presents the design of FIR filter using Hamming window, Kaiser Window and equiripple techniques. And also, a 2D FIR filter is also designed and the output responses are observed. The output response of 2D filter has higher speed than the conventional FIR filter designed using different windowing techniques. The implementation and simulation of all the filter designs are presented using MATLAB and Simulink environment.
